Any time you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular company. On their end, three records are created automatically when the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the emails for that particular Internet domain. The site and the e-mail hosting are usually thought to be one thing, when they are actually two different services. Having independent records for them will enable you to have them with different providers if you want. As an illustration, some new provider can have fantastic uptime for your site, but you may not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain address to the former and MX records to have the emails with the latter, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked whenever you want to open a site or send an e-mail - in any case, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain address is going to be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed site or your e-mail will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting plan from our company, you're going to be able to view, create and modify any A or MX record for your domain names. So long as a particular domain name has our Name Servers, you'll be able to change particular records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your site or emails pointed to any other provider if you would like to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool will even allow you to have a domain hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted somewhere else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name at all. If you decide to use the e-mail services of another company and they want you to create more than 2 MX records, you can easily do it with only a few mouse clicks in the DNS Records section of your CP. You can even set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you buy a semi-dedicated server plan through us, you're going to be able to see and change the A and MX records for each of the domain addresses or subdomains you host within the account. The Hepsia CP, which you will get to handle the account, provides an advanced, although easy-to-use tool where all hosts are going to be listed in alphabetical order and you'll be able to modify their records with no more than several clicks. If you have to create a new record, it's going to be just as simple - select the domain/subdomain, type in the IP address or mail server record and you'll be all set. Additionally, you will be able to set different priority for the MX records you create in case that you decide to use a third-party e-mail provider and they ask you to set up additional records aside from the 2 default ones. If you ever experience any difficulties, you will find a detailed Help section with videos where you can see first-hand how to setup or change any record.
